The first floor of the Golden Pavilion is built in the shinden style, used for Heian period palaces. On the left side of the altar is a seated portrait of the shogun Ashinaga Yoshimitsu, while in the center sits an image of the Buddha Shakyamuni wearing a jeweled chaplet.
