Kukkyôchô

go to the roof of The Golden Pavilion

The third floor of the Golden Pavilion is built in the style of a Chinese Chan (Zen) Buddha Hall and is known as the Kukkyôchô ("Superb Apex"). Though modified slightly in order to blend with the first and second stories, this level still retains distinctive characteristics of Zen architecture.
